Summary of top 5
1. Ohio State- Undoubtedly is the best team going into the 24-25 season of College Football. After their loss to coach Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan Wolverines, Ohio State landed five-star safety Caleb Downs from the transfer portal. The Buckeyes Offense and Defense have been top-tier for years and with the talent coming in from the transfer portal it is my opinion that they will be unstoppable.
2. Georgia Bulldogs- Coming back from a 12-1 season after being left out of the playoffs, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs are looking to feast. With an opening day matchup against Clemson, Georgia is looking to make the 12-team playoff. Their coaching, talent, and mental fortitude will prevail in the long run. They are second to no one in recruiting elite-level talent.
3. Oregon Ducks- After landing Dillon Gabriel from the transfer portal, the Ducks are looking to dominate in the Big Ten after suffering heartbreaking losses to the Washington Huskies. They had one of the best recruiting classes of 2024 and they plan on using it to navigate the tough Big Ten offenses and defenses.
4. Texas Longhorns—Making it to the CFB playoffs, last year, was no small feat. With Texas having Quinn Ewers and a veteran offensive line, they look to not only make it but win it. Texas has very good talent, speed, and elite coaching overall.
5. Ole Miss Rebels- With a very favorable SEC schedule, Ole Miss hit the transfer portal hard, Bringing in a lot of talent. Jaxson Dart has been very good up to this point but I believe he will come back and have an even better season with the improved offensive ability around him and a stronger defense.
This is the rest of my top 25. Notre Dame just missed the top 5. The Irish are loaded with talent and may have the best combination of coordinators in Mike Denbrock (offense) and Al Golden (defense). The question is if Coach Marcus Freeman is ready to take the team to the next level. Alabama lost a legend in Coach Nick Saban and lost a ton of players to the transfer portal but out of respect for their dynasty, they fell in at number 7. A sleeper team to watch is Utah at number 11.
