Was the X-Files TV Character "the Smoking Man" based on Allen Dulles?
We just interviewed the great author David Talbot for the That’s Enough Outta You podcast (airing May26th) and the topic was Allen Dulles. Something I always wondered, was the TV Character "the Smoking Man” from the X-Files based on Allen Dulles. The Popular TV show The X-files ran from 1993 to 2002. It Followed FBI agents Mulder and Scully who investigated Paranormal and Extraterrestrial activity. The main Antagonist of the show was a shadowy Government official known as “the Smoking Man” who was part of a secret group known as the Syndicate.
The Smoking man character operated with no government oversight much like Dulles did his whole career. “The syndicate” would meet in a club in New York city similar to where Dulles would meet with members of the Council on Foreign Relations. Syndicate members like “the Angry man” resembles David Rockefeller and ‘the Well-Manicured man” character could easily be one of the Dupont family. Only X-Files creator Chris Carter knows the Truth. The one thing I do know is that Allen Dulles did not fire at JFK from a storm drain, like the Smoking man in the TV show. Dulles may have fired the shot, so to speak but it came from ‘the farm’ in Virginia.
